RICHARD FALLON, A NEW VISION FOR WOOD-RIDGE PUBLIC SCHOOLS

It's time for a NEW DIRECTION in Wood-Ridge!

In these tough economic times, we need to control spending, share more services, and return the money to our classrooms!

Control Costs: Will work to control costs and restore efficiency in the operation of the school district. Cut wasteful services to save money, and reallocate funds for direct classroom use. The district needs to do more with less money. New and innovative ideas are necessary that maintain a focus on our students’ needs.

Sharing Services: Will work to address cost cutting measures by means of shared services. Will work with the Mayor and Council, as well as surrounding school districts, to cut operational costs, consolidate administrative functions and meet the educational needs of our students.

Leadership: Will lead the district in a positive direction with parent and community involvement. With possible expansion through the acquisition of the Assumption School building, now more than ever, solid resourceful leadership is needed! It's time the Board starts listening to YOU!

Richard Fallon, Committed to listening to the concerns of the taxpayer!

My family is a constant reminder of how important education is. With two school-aged children and my wife in education I am aware of the burdens school systems face. In these tough economic times, we need to control wasteful spending and keep as much money in the classrooms as possible. I feel we can do a better job doing this in Wood-Ridge.

The issues we face in Wood-Ridge are not unique however; emphasis is currently being placed on issues other than those that directly benefit our students. I am not satisfied as parent with the current class sizes.  I believe students would greatly benefit, in the educational process as well as testing scores, from reduced class size. Our students, in the elementary, level desperately need more tools to help them learn better. There are new books and new technology upgrades that are needed in addition to reducing these class sizes. Some curriculum changes are finally starting to happen in the lower grades and I feel much more is needed to help the students perform on a higher level and have our testing scores rise. With the expansion in  Wood-Ridge next year to the old Assumption School building, I am confident that my input on the decisions made would be beneficial. Also, I feel that operational costs need to be addressed. Through reallocating current funding, sharing services, or consolidating administrative functions a more efficient operation can be utilized.

Finally, I feel I can provide a contemporary, practical perspective to the Wood-Ridge Board of Education. My roles as a parent of school aged children, dedicated coach, and Wood-Ridge resident as well my innovative ideas will greatly benefit the Wood-Ridge School system. The climate of education today requires more than the present thinking.
